Question: I'm aged 44 with a sugar test of 161, do I have diabetes? Answer:
Depends on when you took the measurement. If it was a fasting glucose reading then it is a little high but also is this just a one off reading? I would advise monitoring your blood glucose over a period of time to get a true picture of what is going on with your levels. Perhaps first thing in the morning before food. Do this for a week or so and compare your fasting readings over the week and see if they are still in the same range. If so, discuss with your doctor.
It is important remember, one reading alone does not provide you with enough information to act but several, over a week, will help give you a true picture of what is going on.
